contactless ordering

Contactless ordering is the future

What is contactless ordering? Contactless ordering makes restaurant dining or takeaway into the digital age. A restaurant experience that reduces the time guests spend in close contact with restaurant staff and other guests. It allows your customers to view your menu, select as you would in real life and pay for it via the online checkout. This helps by reducing the time spent talking over the phone and ordering a meal.

The future is contactless, a term used again and again. What does it mean exactly? The world has seen a big shift in the way food is delivered and consumed. As of the pandemic food via takeaway was done via contactless payment as well as no contact with the driver. This shift in the way we consume food has definitely watched on. Hungry diners flocked to the online portals and restaurant online ordering system to place orders and get the orders in.

Post-pandemic we have seen that card order is the most desired method of payment getting approximately 85% of the orders and growing. Customers who were reluctant to pay via card are now used to paying via card after the pandemic.

Predicting the future

We reckon that 85% will climb all the way into the late 90s in the coming years. Companies adding the likes of apple pay and google pay. Easy payments via phone, watch and many more devices. Everything is pushed away from cash.

A few years ago we were paying at the door, research shows this has also gone down drastically. We have also seen a big spike in those restaurants that did cash only for many years, even though they had an online ordering system for restaurants that have now added the card option as people just do not wish to pay via card. Restauranteurs are being pushed to get the online payment facility by customer demand.

Dine in Ordering

Ordering via QR code on the table has seen a dramatic rise since the pandemic. You find big chains such as Nandos and others not coming and taking orders but rather allowing you to scan a QR code and place an order at the table. McDonald’s has now introduced the self-service checkout in all stores and many stores have expanded that section eating away at the dine-in areas to accommodate these kiosks.

Contactless ordering is not only the future it is the present as we see it.
